Project Graduation 2008

Peer To Peer tutoring provides training and job opportunities for high school aged youth as Peer Tutors for children in the elementary schools. Peer Tutors assist the Lake Havasu Unified School District’s cost free tutoring programs at five elementary schools. Tutors are part of a successful program model that includes a certified teacher and computer lab. HFY is equally proud of our Peer Tutors who provide exemplary mentorship for some of our community’s most at-risk children, and of the children enrolled in the program, who gain the skills they will need to succeed in the classroom. If you know a teen who would like to become a Peer Tutor, please have them call or stop by our offices. For information on how to enroll your child in the program, please contact your school directly.

Currently we have 24 Peer Tutors providing over 300 children per month  with tutoring assistance as part of this unique and successful partnership with the school district. Last year our Peer Tutors provided over 3,000 hours of tutoring and 62% of the students increased their grades and 76% of the ELL students increased their skills.
